Oakes Road Reconstruction, Brecksville, Ohio

The CW Courtney Company developed plans and administered construction for this $2,000,000 improvement, which involved the complete removal and replacement of approximately two miles of an existing roadway pavement. Along with the pavement replacement, the project included a number of drainage improvements, roadside swale regrading, and drive apron reconstruction. During the building of this improvement, we identified significant problems were present with the soils underlying the proposed pavement. In response, we developed a cost effective program for the removal and replacement of unsuitable material involving undercutting poor material, placement of appropriately sized stone, and the use of a number of geotextile materials. This enabled us to bridge poor subgrade conditions without having to implement a more comprehensive and expensive subgrade removal and replacement program.
